Successes
We successfully bring most of our design into the game. The assets that we chose integrated well and the gameplay is hard and complicated enough for the player. We are happy that we are able to take assets and use them as our own, studying the demos and materials. In addition, we also add a GUI to our game which really goes together with our theme.
Challenges
Since the assignment overlaps with the last one, we have to admit that we started late and therefore need extra time and effort to make sure we are on the right track. Some challenges include unity does not support loading old scenes or saving of old scenes. Therefore, after loading a new scene, there is no going back. Thus, we need to write codes that will allow us to get the result we want. GUI is also not a popular topic and unity and therefore, trial and error was the strategy we used.
What we learned
From the last assignment, since we are from different teams, some of us are familiar with GitHub and unity while some are not. Therefore, we catch up with one another, learn from our teammates and try our best to produce a quality adventure game. Group Work is definitely much easier, we started to know ways of dividing the work, coming together, and efficiently solving problems individually or with the help of a teammate.
Possible Future Revisions
We could definitely improve by adding more levels, making harder puzzles based on what we have for now. There could be traps and other variations of obstacles added as well if we have more time. We also want to improve the interface, add cooler effects and make the game more immersive for players. If we have more time, we believe we can come up with a better game with guards.
